What happens?

When the beer lines are not used for a considerable amount of time, such as during this pandemic, a layer of mould starts to build up in them. This makes the system unhygienic to use, and it produces a foul smell coupled with fruit flies which becomes a source of unsanitary beer. 

Knowledge about a functional keg/beer system is important here to ensure your bar serves the quality it promises. However, the cleaning takes a certain level of effort and cannot be done properly if there is a lack of understanding of the required methods.

What needs to be cleaned?

As an owner of a bar, you need to ensure the beer lines are functional and are ready to serve a chilled mug to your customers. These lines need to be cleaned with a proper strength sanitation solution, including the cleaning of the keg couplers as they may have mould on the outside and inside the faucets. These faucets are supposed to be maintained by taking them out to facilitate proper cleaning.  Considering the freon or the glycol system, it is important to ensure that the condenser is spotless and not dusty to allow airflow without any hindrance. Particularly with the glycol system, make sure the unit has sufficient glycol inside to run and that the unit is not frozen. 

What needs to be done?
